MiSight 1 Day contact lens now approved in China for Myopia Control

The FDA approved MiSight 1 Day contact lens, as prescribed by Shattky's, has now approved in China.

The MiSight 1 Day soft contact lens is designed for myopia control, to slow the progression of axial length of the eye in children aged 8-12ys at the initiation of treatment.

Around 14% of Chinese six-year-olds are myopic, but prevalence has greatly increased to 80.5% by the time they get to high school.

A myopia survey showed that incidence of myopia in China is up 2.5% from 2019 to 2020, commonly attributed to children’s increased indoor time and digital screen use aggravated by CoVID-19 lockdown.

CooperVision president, Mr Daniel McBride, has stated that “Myopia has become one of the world’s most pressing global eye health issues—with implications for generations to come.”
