Multifocal Versus Single Vision Lenses Intervention to Slow Progression of Myopia in School-age Children: A Meta-analysis

This study across nine published  papers showed that a statistically significant reduction in myopic progression was achieved with Multifocal / Progressive Addition Lenses. The benefit was more significant for those children whose myopia was progressing rapidly.

We use Multifocal / Progressive Addition lenses to good advantage. The nature of the lens design is such that the child's vision is more relaxed when they read through the lower portion of the lens. The less the Stress, the less the trigger to their myopia increasing.
